Education/Experience Required:
4 years Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering or Production Management with a minimum 4 years progressive engineering/production experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.
Summary:
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating a variety of machines to manufacture parts or products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyses work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
- Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules and requisitions materials from storage area.
- Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
- Plans flow of materials through department and develops physical layout of machines according to work orders with assistance from supporting departments.
- Interfaces with others in the organizations to ensure customer deadlines are met.
- Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
- Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.
- Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
- Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost and cycle times.
- Manages plant efficiency and productivity and plans working hours and labour accordingly. This includes management of overtime.
- Effectively manages balance builds and leftovers as well as production driven Prod Var metrics to required targets and expectations.
- Ensures plant OAE targets are achieved.
- Responsible for production 5S expectations to requirements
- Manages and controls supply cost and MRO spend budgets for production department.
